Data Preparation

MB INCAPE/DATA PREPARATION is part of Mühlbauer’s production management solution MB INCAPE. The incoming data from a central data management system cannot be directly used for optical and electronic personalization of identity documents because the data is incomplete (e.g. chip data) or needs to be transformed into machine-readable format (image resizing of photo or signature).

MB INCAPE/DATA PREPARATION provides customizable ISO/IEC 18013-compliant functions for automatically preparing the data according the requirements applicable for driver’s license documents. The Data Preparation module can be integrated in the data flow from the time the data is received by MB INCAPE, through personalization, quality assurance and mailing.

The standard setup is usually to have two Data Preparation modules in the data flow. The first instance creates all the visual data for document personalization by using truncation rules for name, surname and address. Alternatively it can generate a barcode. The second instance of Data Preparation provides all the data needed for electronic personalization. This second instance of Data Preparation interacts directly with the MCES chip-coding DLL and other modules like a public key infrastructure (PKI) for electronically signing chip data groups.
