Mühlbauer, DELO and Impinj Achieve Milestone in Efficient RAIN RFID Label Manufacturing

Mühlbauer, DELO Industrial Adhesives, and Impinj, Inc. (NASDAQ: PI), have announced a new milestone in the effort to achieve high-volume inlay manufacturing.

The use of biometric travel documents has become common practice at both national and international airports, especially since a constantly growing number of countries has already introduced electronic Machine Readable Travel Documents (eMRTD) like ePassports and eID cards. However, these biometric documents require appropriate reading devices to access the information and to compare and verify the document and its holder.

In order to maintain security standards and prevent cases of fraud, it is of great importance that passengers are identified and verified – not only anywhere inside an airport’s security area, but also at any time during their stay at the airport. For this very reason, Mühlbauer has recently developed an easy-to-handle mobile app called MB Steel Reader Mobile App. It checks electronic travel documents and verifies travelers without disturbing the normal passenger flow and can be used on all standard mobile devices. This innovative approach does not only facilitate the identification and verification of passengers and their travel documents, but – equally important – also maintains the normal passenger flow within the airport.

Mühlbauer representatives are looking forward to welcoming all interested ID4Africa 2019 attendees at booth D5 and discuss the MB Steel Reader Mobile App’s features and advantages and to present examples of best practices and privacy protection. Furthermore, our experts are also happy to discuss the future challenges of international travelling – especially with regard to the development and humanitarian context.
