Presentation of the latest machine solutions in the field of Chip sorting and Carrier tape - Successful launch of the new chip sorter generation DS MERLIN

MELAKA, MALAYSIA, November 9^th – About 200 guests from the semiconductor industry witnessed Mühlbauer's competence in the field of Chip sorting and Carrier tape. The 3-day event took place at the Mühlbauer site in Melaka, Malaysia, at the end of September. "We were very pleased with the positive response to our Technology Days from our international guests, who made a long journey to Malaysia to experience the presentation of our innovations", said Mr.Thomas Betz, Managing Director of Mühlbauer GmbH & Co. Company Tour through Mühlbauer Melaka

The highlight of the event was definitely the presentation of the new chip sorting system DS Merlin, which was shown to the expert audience in Melaka for the first time. With a completely new process flow, this system achieves a higher throughput and at the same time it carries an increased quality control thanks to the SIDEWALL inspection. Another innovation was the introduction of the DS LASER system, which uses a laser beam to release the chips from the wafer. Compared to the mechanical release, this method proves to be more gentle and will meet a ready market of specific applications in the field of semiconductor back-end. The new DS TEST system integrates a Test-Pad and for the first time it performs a complete O/S test during chip sorting. Mühlbauer once again strengthen the leadership in software competence with its newly developed software tool FACTORY.LEADER. The application, that was specifically developed for the chip industry, enormously simplifies the control of the complex processes in the production area. For example, the application delivers the key performance indicators at the touch of a button and enables remote access from a central position.
In addition to a company tour through Mühlbauer in Melaka, the conference program started with speeches presented by Mrs. E. Jan Vardaman (president and founder of TechSearch International) and by Mr. Thomas Betz (Managing Director of Mühlbauer). Technical contributions presented by Vision experts Dr. Michael Kellner and Mr.Chien Jin Xiang and by Mr. Christian Augenstein, who is responsible for software solutions and Industry 4.0, completed the informative section of the program.

In relaxed atmosphere during the gala dinner at the roof top restaurant in Melaka and the Oktoberfest the guests had time for networking and discussions about the latest trends in this dynamic future market. The conference ended with a tour around the world heritage city of Melaka. "Our customers is always at the heart of all our activities.
