The clearance process involves various software-based filters executed consecutively to determine whether an individual is authorized to enter or exit the country. If each filter is passed, verification is considered successful. If not, the traveler is routed to further inspection and checked manually.
Depending on local conditions, border-crossing points can be equipped with
- Self-Enrollment Kiosks
- Automated Border Control (ABC) units
- Mobile verification units (MB Verification Handheld)
- Automatic license-plate recognition (ALPR, ANPR, AVI, CPR) units (like MB CarGate)
For controls at seaports, at railway checkpoints, in public transport and at unsecured land borders, we recommend mobile verification. Thus officers can randomly inspect vehicles or pedestrians using handheld devices.
