3-dimensional surface inspection for aerosol cans

TEMA SHAPE CONTROL is Mühlbauer’s unique 3-dimensional inspection solution for decorated, shaped aerosol cans at the end of the production process. The cans have to be lifted from the output conveyor, set in rotation, delivered to the inspection unit, and placed back on the conveyor. A tailored handling solution is available. Based on laser triangulation in combination with print and surface inspection algorithms TEMA SHAPE CONTROL generates a complete height profile of the can surface to detect typical shape defects like grooves, dents, or major scratches with a precision in the range of few ten micrometers. The inspection unit can be combined with other TEMA Vision inspection systems like print inspection PI-CYLINDER and can top inspection CTI to establish a real automated can inspection at the end of the production line.
