Muehlbauer Automation s.r.o. Partners with Leading Slovak Institutions to Advance Wide-Bandgap Semiconductor Research

Muehlbauer Automation s.r.o. has entered into a strategic research partnership aimed at advancing power semiconductor devices based on wide-bandgap (WBG) materials. The collaboration is carried out in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, the Faculty of Commerce of the University of Economics in Bratislava, ON Semiconductor Slovakia, a.s., and Slovakia Supercomputers s.r.o.

The partners will jointly implement the grant project entitled “Research into power semiconductor devices based on WBG semiconductors to strengthen innovation in industry for the 21st century”.

The project focuses on the development of innovativeand energy-efficient power semiconductor solutions to meet the growing demands of industrial, automotiveand mobility applications. Key activities include the design and testing of advanced semiconductor materials, prototype development and the evaluation of next-generation packaging technologies.

A core element of the collaboration is the establishment of dedicated research infrastructure and pilot production lines within Slovakia. This initiative strengthens the connection between academic research and industrial application while contributes to the long-term development of the Slovak semiconductor ecosystem.

By combining Muehlbauer’s expertise in manufacturing and system integration with STU’s research capabilities, this partnership will contribute significantly to the development of next-generation electronics, ensuring Slovakia remains competitive in the evolving global market.This underlines a shared commitment to technological innovation, sustainable development whilst prioritising the advancement of high-performance power electronics for future industries.
