Control on the Stroll

Mobile production management - Absence explicitly allowed!

In the May 2022 issue of the "Diplomatisches Magazin", we provided information about the value of machine data evaluation and the possibility to control and intervene via MES (manufacturing execution systems). Read the full article here

Quick check if all machines are running. Glance at the tablet. Production speed? Fits. Scrap rate? Within expectations. Error message? Would have popped up as a push message anyway. No need for action. Perfect, heading relaxed for the next appointment.

For a long time, production management meant on-site monitoring to make sure that everything fit, that everything ran smoothly. Today, manufacturing execution systems (MES) and artificial intelligence (AI) replace the walk through the production hall. Data is transmitted and evaluated in real time, and statistics automatically show the daily, weekly or monthly performance.

However, machine data is one of the most underappreciated and underutilized assets of the majority of companies. Seagate’s “Rethink Data Report” from 2020 reveals that only 32% of the data available to the enterprises is going to be put into work. As much as 68% of data goes unleveraged. Meanwhile, some of the most important insights that can be gained are hidden in this data – a huge potential for the corporate success that remains untapped.

The Mühlbauer Group in Roding, Germany, offers solutions where it is particularly important that ultimately everything works perfectly. Because here, the safety of millions of people is at stake. We are talking about identity documents, the machines that produce them and the systems that make them work. It is essential that every production step is meticulously monitored, controlled, and that any error is immediately detected and eliminated.
